Background Information

I joined the Biggio Center at Auburn University in 2009 after teaching physics for 15 years. My involvement in various undergraduate and K-12 STEM education reform efforts which included teacher professional development led me to this change in careers. Another strong influence was my time as a Carnegie Scholar in the Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL). My formal training is all in Physics (Vassar College & UCLA) but my long time research interests have been in the application of learning technologies to the teaching and learning of the sciences.

Related Pedagogical Projects

I have been a member of an NSF-funded TELS Center for Learning and Teaching, the Learning in Informal and Formal Environments (LIFE) Center for Science of Learning and most recently at Auburn become part of the National Science and Math Teacher Imperative (SMTI). Though I have not worked in Economics - my research interest in using technology to help students move between multiple representations of a phenomenon (verbal, quantitative, graphical) are I believe in line with learning goals of economics education.
